Yes, Conesville is pretty hard core as well as the Algona Freedom Rally, both in IA. If you want to see what I consider real bikers, these are the places to go.

2011 was my first time to BB&BBQ and I heard the exact same rumblings that you describe. Didn’t go expecting Sturgis if for no other reason the size of the event. Dickson street as you point out is clearly infused with non riding locals many of whom I was told are pressing for the change (some even want the entire event cancelled).

Riding the Pig Trail from Fayetteville to Eureka Springs I did see a few pockets of “biker culture” but they were few and far between. One option you may consider if you are truely interested in “edginess” is Conesville, IA as it’s close to the Chicagoland area. Sounds like a pretty hardcore rally and though I might stick my head in for a couple of hours don’t know that I’d want to do an entire weekend.

Awesome work, awesome site! I’m a shooter on the east coast and spend a lot of time @ NHMSpeedway. Would love to talk to you about working Weirs Beach Rally. I’ve been to them all, Sturgis is tops and well, Weirs not so – but lots of character to the New England bike crowd.

Your video on Springfield Mile is off the charts. Great work here……
